We are seeking a Volunteer Global Monitoring Analyst to help with the growth of a new geopolitcal think tank. The Mathurin Hybrid Initiative is a project designed to provide a platform for young people and underrepresented communities with a voice in world politics. While we are currently unable to offer paid positions, this role is suitable for any undergrad/postgraduate looking to gain more research experience outside of their university courses, with knowledge of Africa.
Responsibilities

Political Development Tracking: Stay abreast of political events, trends, risks and developments across the African continent. Monitor news sources, official statements, and reputable analysis to identify key political shifts, elections, policy changes, conflicts, and diplomatic activities.

Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth research on specific political topics or regions within Africa. Analyze complex political dynamics, socioeconomic factors, and historical contexts to provide nuanced insights and context to the developments being monitored.

Timely Reporting: Create concise and informative summaries of important political developments in Africa. Craft well-written updates that highlight the significance of events, potential impacts, and implications for the region and beyond.

Collaboration: Collaborate with MHI Researchers and contributors to exchange insights, share findings, and refine analysis. Participate in discussions and brainstorming sessions to enhance the quality of our content.

Adaptation to Current Events: Be prepared to shift focus and adjust monitoring priorities based on rapidly evolving situations and emerging crises that may require immediate attention.

Environment Monitoring: Keep up to dates to weather patterns and environmental situations in Africa.
Qualifications

No previous work experience required.

Must be studying International Relations, Political Science, Economics or a related field at least at the undergraduate level or recently graduated. Geography backgrounds also acceptable.

Knowledge of African politics

Research and Analytical Skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (Other languages considered a bonus).

Ability to keep up to date with ongoing international political & environmental developments.
